This is a landscape about Geology with the textures of distorted bands of strata to the fore framing the distant view of the Volcanic Plug at Stanley Tasmania.
Using texture media applied with a palette knife for the closer rock lasyers the painting is tactile. This contrasts with the soft, thin glazing which forces the Nut to appear to dissolve into a hazy distance.
A lovely sense of depth on a 2D surface and showcasing one of Tasmania's natural icons..
