Dichroic glass is glass containing multiple micro-layers of metals or oxides which give the glass dichroic optical properties. This gives it its incredible sparkle.
Dichroic glass was first developed by NASA space program and is very expensive to manufacture. To make dichroic glass, the glass must be sprayed with micro-layers of metals, usually including titanium, chromium, gold, zirconium, and aluminium. This is conducted in a vacuum chamber, which evaporates the metals and fuses them to the glass in extremely thin layers.
