Natures Pool
This sculptural wall mounted piece was inspired by many walks through the National Parks of the Caldera. It is a deliberate effort to embody and reflect all I love and value about living in Far North NSW. I wanted the viewer to see themselves encompassed by all the elements of natural wonder that we enjoy here and in so doing be reminded of our place in the natural order. We are a part of natural world and as conscious beings we are responsible for its care. As a passionate advocate for environmental care I also chose to use a frame of Camphor- a timber of great beauty that in this application finds a better place then growing wild in our part of the world |

Rainbow art glass square dish
A rainbow was the inspiration for this beautiful art glass square dish. This piece has had two firings in a kiln. The first firing is to fuse the coloured glass pieces together and occurs at a hot 810 degrees centigrade. When glass is heated, it softens and if more heat is applied, it begins to melt and flow. When two or more pieces of glass are heated together at first they will stick, or tack together. When heated further, they will melt together, flatten out, and become one solid piece of glass. The second firing is to slump the glass into the dish mold to give its shape. This occurs at a slightly lower temperature of 635 degrees centigrade. |

Simply stunning and sparkles Each piece of dichroic glass jewellry is handcrafted and unique. No two pieces are ever the same Pendant measures approx 2cm wide by 2cm high Chain measures approx 48cm Earings measure approx 1.5 x 2cm Each exquisite piece is unique and hand-made. The earrings have sterling silver posts or findings. The glasswork is fused at 810 degrees Celsius and contains a glass called Dichroic Glass. Dichroic glass is glass containing multiple micro-layers of metals or oxides which give the glass dichroic optical properties. This gives it its incredible sparkle. Dichroic glass was first developed by NASA space program and is very expensive to manufacture. To make dichroic glass, the glass must be sprayed with micro-layers of metals, usually including titanium, chromium, gold, zirconium, and aluminium. This is conducted in a vacuum chamber, which evaporates the metals and fuses them to the glass in extremely thin layers. |
